Two cultural events in Houston will feature two of our very own talented SAC Members. The first is an art exhibition on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the University of St. Thomas. The event features several Arab-American artists including SAC Member, Hatem Al Rais. The second event is a book signing by SAC Member Tarif Youssef-Agha on February 17 at the Barnes & Noble bookstore on Memorial Drive. His newest book, "Heart, Tears, & the Journey of Life, Loving, Lamenting and Meditation, Middle Easter Style," is out now.
The Al-Sham Center will be holding a complimentary lecture at the Al-Sham Center on Sunday, January 27 at 4:00 pm. This event will be presented by interior decorator Linah Kamal Nahhas. Linah is the founder of Splendid Interiors and will offer information on room design.

Dear Members and Friends,
This is the 22nd year for the Syrian American Club Scholarship Program and qualified students in our community are invited to apply to the program for the 2017-2018 academic year. Students who graduated from high school this year and plan to attend college are encouraged to apply. Students who are undergraduates in a four year college program may also apply if they are in their junior year or below. Collateral Repair Project, a U.S. grassroots organization that helps Syrian and Iraqi refugees in Amman, Jordan with food, housing, education and trauma relief, will be making a presentation about their efforts at Al-Sham Center on October 16th at 5:00 pm. See flyer for additional details.

This year's annual Eid Dinner was a success as families gathered to celebrate the conclusion of Ramadan. Kids enjoyed games and face-painting, as parents caught up with new and old friends.
