SCHOLARSHIP GALA
Our annual Syrian American Club Scholarship Endowment Gala was on April 21, 2007 and was a combined celebration of the educational achievement of students in our community, Syrian Independence day, and the unity and accomplishments of the Syrian-American community in Houston. The two hundred people who attended the Gala this year enjoyed music by... The Master of Ceremonies for this year's Gala was the Arab-American comedian, Aron Kader.
The raffle drawings were fun and the lucky winners received a variety of gifts which included gift certificates to area spas and restaurants. The raffle, along with the successful silent auction, helped raise funds for the scholarship efforts that were the highlight of the evening.
This year, 11 scholarships were awarded. 5 of these scholarships were awarded to new winners of the award, and 6 were awarded to students continuing in the scholarship program. We wish them the best of luck in their academic achievements!

SPRING PICNIC
Our spring picnic was held on a sunny Sunday in March, and over a hundred families showed up to enjoy the food from Fadi’s, the music and the games.
Children enjoyed pony rides and train rides, climbed on a rock wall, and ran around the Clear Lake Park area we reserved for this occasion. Older kids and adults enjoyed the basketball court, while other sat back with their argeelehs playing cards and backgammon or simply socializing.
A DJ from Incredible Events livened up the scene with games for the children and music for the adults. If you missed out, don’t worry. A fall picnic will be in the works soon.
